ABOUT ECO NUTS
Mona Weiss, The Founder
Conventional detergents contain all sorts of chemical ingredients and it’s no secret that they can potentially have harmful effects on people especially ones with sensitive skin. Mona Weiss and Scott Shields, Co-founders of Eco Nuts are among those people. Frustrated with allergies, with their sensitive skin and the lack of transparency of laundry detergents they started looking for better options. After not being able to find anything that they felt good about, they decided to dig deeper and come up with an invention of their own.
In 2009 they founded Eco Nuts, a laundry company that uses very special berries from the Himalayas for their detergents. These berries, now referred to as “soap nuts” contain a natural soap called saponin. They now provide everything from laundry detergent, floor cleaner, glass cleaner and veggie wash which are all certified organic.
It is in the core values of Eco Nuts to provide cleaning options that are better for you and the environment! Whether it’s their laundry lineup to household cleaners, all of the products are plant-based with simple ingredients and no hidden toxins. Their berries are ethically sourced from Nepal where they grow in their natural state without pesticides or fertilizers.
Eco Nuts employees are working in safe environments and are paid fair fages. When it comes to packaging, they recognized that plastic is a huge problem so they commit to be plastic-free as much as possible. They use endlessly recyclable aluminum bottles for their liquid detergent and FSC Certified Paper and Soy Ink for their solid products. Eco Nuts soap berries and other ingredients are grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and are USDA Organic certified.
