BRUSH WITH BAMBOO STORY
The journey towards sustainability of Kumar family starts back in 2009.
For twenty six years Kumar family lived in a small suburban home in South California. It was a typical suburban home surrounded with a beautiful green lawn. The idea of turning that lawn into permaculture garden was the beginning of their journey. With over 70 fruit threes and 50 vegetables in their garden, Kumar family home is now a model of suburban sustainable living, producing 5000 lbs of food per year.
Organic farming was their way to show that they care. They wanted to share the gift of natural organic food with their community and so they founded an educational firm near their home where they teach about organic farming. It was through farming that they realized the truth about plastic. It is a man-made synthetic material that never decomposes! It never returns to soil! In fact, every piece of plastic ever made - still exists!
Recognizing the impact the plastic toothbrushes have, Kumar family wanted to offer the alternative that was Kind to Earth. That is why Brush with Bamboo was created back in 2012.
Today they offer a fully plant-based and biodegradable toothbrush with a bristle that is made with castor bean oil and a 100% bamboo handle.
HOW DO THEY MAKE AN IMPACT?
Brush with Bamboo was born with the idea to reduce plastic waste produced by commercial plastic toothbrushes by offering a sustainable alternative. Their toothbrushes are plant-based, fully biodegradable, USDA Bio-based and Vegan certified. They are also Green America certified business.
Only wild, giant Moso Bamboo is used for bamboo toothbrush handles. Less than 1% of the possible bamboo resources available in the sprawling Chinese bamboo mountain range is being harvested for their products.
Their toothbrush bristles are 100% Castor Bean Oil and USDA Certified 100% Biobased meaning that bristles contain 0% fossil fuel.
The packaging box is made from 100% paper and is also biodegradable - no tape or glue is used.
